Recognized internationally for his work, he is one of only a small number of Plastic Surgeons in the world, to have attained a PhD in Plastic Surgery, for which he was awarded The Dean’s List.
Dr. Chin is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland, Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and a member of both the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
Dr Chin completed his medical training at the Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland and his Plastic and Reconstructive Surgical training at some of the worlds most prestigious plastic surgery units, including Canniesburn Hospital, Scotland and USA.
During his training Dr Chin completed a year fellowship in craniofacial and congenital hand surgery in Dublin, two year Hand Fellowship, head and neck surgery at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, Brisbane and further Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Training in Beverley Hills, Newport Beach, La Jolla and San Diego, California, with a number of America’s top Plastic Surgeons.
With the dedication and drive to take his knowledge and skills to the highest level, David completed his Medical Doctorate in Breast Cancer, an area in which he was determined to make a difference. Followed by a PhD in Plastic Surgery for which he was awarded The Dean’s List the University of Queensland, the first in Australia for Plastic Surgery.

After graduating as a surgeon from the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin, Ireland in 1988, Dr. David Chin has dedicated the last 23 years to the advancement of plastic surgery. That commitment to the specialist field of plastic surgery saw Dr. Chin become the first surgeon in Queensland to attain the Dean’s List PhD in Plastic Surgery in almost 30 years.
